Julia Skonieczny (vocal), Dengocore/Diogo Bergamo (guitarra solo), Matheus Who (guitarra base), Schumacher (baixo), Annushka (teclado) e Monki Jojo (bateria).

“Dr.

Como disse o guitarrista Matheus Who:

Juia ignites Brazilian indie-pop with ‘Dr. Renato Aragão’: freedom, love and pure live energy

Brazilian alternative indie-pop punk rock never stops surprising us with brilliant new sounds — and today is no exception.

This 1st of December brings the release of the new single by the Curitiba-based band Juia, fronted by a powerhouse vocalist whose tone, energy, and artistic presence are magnetic. The single is bold, vibrant, fun — a track that radiates freedom while also embracing love in the most unexpected ways.

We had the privilege of listening to “Dr Renato Aragão” in advance, and we fell in love instantly.

Juia was born from the creative world of Julia Skonieczny, who released two solo projects before forming the band: Juia 0.5 (2022) and Fantasma no Quintal (2024). Now as a complete group, the project gains new depth, strength, and an electrifying sonic identity.

Based in Curitiba, Juia blends influences from indie pop, psychedelic rock, and layers of contemporary Brazilian music. Their sound converses with artists such as Crumb, Tame Impala, Marcos Valle, and the colourful, irreverent aesthetic of Sophia Chablau e Uma Enorme Perda de Tempo.

The band is formed by:

Julia Skonieczny (vocals), Dengocore/Diogo Bergamo (lead guitar), Matheus Who (rhythm guitar), Schumacher (bass), Annushka (keys) and Monki Jojo (drums).

The single was born from a moment of radical artistic freedom — and, above all, from love. In a spontaneous instant, Julia combined two unlikely worlds:

• her genuine affection for her boyfriend Diogo (Dengocore), nicknamed Didi,

• and the inevitable wordplay referencing the iconic Brazilian comedian who prefers to be called Doctor Renato Aragão.

The result is a track that is explosive, light, and irresistibly fun.

It was on stage that the song revealed its true destiny: it was always the moment that broke the ice, made the crowd headbang, smile, and fall in love with the group’s chemistry. That same energy inspired the creation of a live session accompanying the release.

As guitarist Matheus Who says:

“This song was born to be played live. When we realised it always broke the ice at shows, it became obvious it had to be the pre-album single.”

The single was recorded between October 2024 and November 2025 at Dengorecords in Curitiba, with production, mixing and mastering by Dengocore. The live session was creatively directed and captured by Helena Bohn, who also shot the promotional photographs.

“Dr Renato Aragão” arrives as the final single before the band’s debut album, dois trabalhos, due later this December. If this release is already bursting with identity, humour, warmth, and freedom, we cannot wait to hear the full album.

Juia is ready — and so are we — for the indie-pop explosion set to define 2025.
