Divergent Beats

Se você ainda não conhece Calvin Voichicoski, ele é um dos artistas mais inventivos da cena indie brasileira. Desde seus primeiros trabalhos — Opaco (2015), Moscas Volantes (2017) e Lar da Retórica Incompreensível (2021) — Calvin sempre trouxe um som experimental, criativo, com uma mistura única de indie, folk, anti-folk e eletrônica.

Na nossa pesquisa para a playlist Divergent Beats que saiu no último sábado, nos deparamos com o novo álbum dele em colaboração com o Pelocurto, intitulado Bodoque. E foi amor à primeira vista. A capa já nos fisgou: um rostinho de cãzinho que é, ao mesmo tempo, fofo e estranho, perfeito para o que vem depois.

O álbum inteiro é delicioso de ouvir. A mistura de indie rock, eletrônico e experimentalismo é intensa, e a voz com aquele timbre cru nos lembra bandas underground dos anos 90. Mas a música que nos conquistou de vez foi Yeayeayeayeayeayeayeah — impossível não se apaixonar.

Outro ponto que adoramos é a diversidade linguística: o álbum tem músicas em português e inglês, ampliando ainda mais o universo da obra. Bodoque é um projeto super diferente, importante e absolutamente atual, e merece ser ouvido e sentido do começo ao fim.

Bodoque: Calvin Voichicoski & Pelocurto, Love at First Sight in Brazilian Indie

If you haven’t met Calvin Voichicoski yet, he’s one of the most inventive artists in the Brazilian indie scene. Since his early releases — Opaco (2015), Moscas Volantes (2017), and Lar da Retórica Incompreensível (2021) — Calvin has delivered an experimental, creative sound, uniquely blending indie, folk, anti-folk, and electronic music.

During our research for the Divergent Beats playlist released last Saturday, we came across his new collaborative album with Pelocurto, titled Bodoque. And it was love at first sight. The cover immediately grabbed us: a little dog’s face, cute yet strange, perfectly matching the music inside.

The entire album is a delight to listen to. The mix of indie rock, electronic, and experimentalism is intense, and the raw voice evokes ’90s underground rock bands. But the track that stole our hearts completely is Yeayeayeayeayeayeayeah — impossible not to fall in love.

Another aspect we loved is the linguistic diversity: the album features songs in Portuguese and English, expanding the universe even further. Bodoque is a super unique, important, and totally current project, meant to be listened to and felt from start to finish.
